OUR

Breaking Barriers, Together

SoM is committed to building inclusive and barrier-free community music education with a compassionate, student-centred approach. For us, accessible, equitable and barrier-free means SoM is free for all students. To make this happen, our school relies on donor support.

SoM receives no government funding and Sarah generously donates the administrative costs. This means that all donations fully support our barrier free and 100% tuition free programs.

We support the whole child by removing barriers to access.

How is SoM Funded?

At Sarah McLachlan School of Music (SoM), we provide free after-school music programs for children and youth facing barriers to accessing traditional music education. Through the universal language of music, our programs offer a safe and inclusive space where students are seen, heard, and valued.

With campuses in Vancouver, New West, and Edmonton, we nurture creativity, resilience, and self-expression in over 1,100 young musicians each year. Supported by generous donors and community partners, we’re dedicated to transforming lives and building brighter futures through the empowering art of music.
