What to Expect at SoM
At Sarah McLachlan School of Music, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the joy and transformative power of music. Our free after-school programs are designed for young people of all abilities and life experiences who are ready to explore their creativity in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. By applying, you take the first step toward joining a vibrant community where cooperation, compassion, and self-expression come to life through music.
Who is Eligible?
Sarah McLachlan School of Music welcomes applications from individuals who face socio-economic barriers to accessing traditional music programs. Our free programs serve:
Children aged 0-5 (early childhood music exploration)
Youth aged 8-24 (instrumental, vocal, and creative music programs)
Adults aged 55+ (community music programs)
Eligibility is determined through an application process that includes referrals from partner organizations, social workers, schools, and counselors. After initial acceptance, further evaluations help ensure that SoM is the right fit for the student—and that the program will have a meaningful impact on their lives.
SOM provides high quality music education at no cost. Our programs have limited space available with a commitment to enrolling applicants whose lives will be most impacted by attending SoM.
