WHAT IS OPEN MIC?

Open Mic is a chance for SoM students to perform songs of their choice, for a friendly and supportive audience. For students who are new to performing and would like to get some practice, Open Mic is a perfect first step!

WHAT CAN I PERFORM?

  • You can perform a song you wrote (an "original") or a song someone else wrote (a "cover").

  • You can play an instrument by yourself and sing along.

  • You can sing with a teacher playing an instrument like piano or guitar with you.

  • Your class or band can play together.

  • You can share something you created in an electronic music or turntables class.

*We ask that students not use karaoke or backing tracks. 

HOW DO I GET READY FOR MY PERFORMANCE?

You can practice on your own or with a SoM teacher. Any of your SoM teachers can help you get ready.

HOW OFTEN CAN I PERFORM AT OPEN MIC?

You can sign up to perform at one open mic night every school year. If you have already performed this year, you can sign up again but you may be added to a waiting list to let new performers have a chance.
