Our Vision
Our hope is that the Sarah McLachlan School of Music will encourage students to develop a lifelong love of the arts and a greater sense of themselves. Through music education, we hope to inspire Confidence, Connection, Creativity, Collaboration and Community.
Confidence
Success for us is when students develop a new sense of confidence we know will sustain them throughout their lives.
Connection
Music connects us to each other, but it also allows us to create a deep relationship with ourselves. Music enables young people to express themselves in ways they may never have experienced.
Creativity
Our instructors, who are all professional musicians, find creative and innovative ways of engaging students in the process of learning music. Students have the opportunity to inform the creative process through improvisation and composition.
Collaboration
We engage students in the learning process by encouraging them to learn in different ways. From working together, on their own, or with guest artists, we offer them a culture of support as well as the opportunity to collaborate and create with others.
Community
Music fosters community; students learn to work with others, collaborate, and make decisions independently. Our students, instructors and staff all come from such diverse backgrounds, by making music and working together we celebrate each others uniqueness.
