Administrative Team

Ann de la Hey — Executive Director

Ann received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia and completed her master’s in flute performance at Northwestern University. She studied with Trevor Wye at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and has free-lanced in Vancouver, performing with the Vancouver Symphony and on CBCradio. Ann has worked in the non-profit sector as Production Manager with the Vancouver Symphony, in production with CBC radio and as Publicist for CBC Records. Ann is currently a member of the Vancouver Community College Professional Advisory Committee and UBC School of Music Mentorship Program. Ann is grateful to witness the difference music education can make in a child’s life on a daily basis.

Craig Shervey — Program Coordinator

Craig brings a multidisciplinary perspective to the Sarah McLachlan School of Music. He received his formative training in the corporate sector, in addition to becoming a Nike sponsored athlete, which enabled him to travel globally, teaching motivation and fitness to adults and children. His many years as a volunteer at Arts Umbrella allowed him to demonstrate his keen administrative skills and his infectious energy with children in the non-profit arena, and he’s thrilled to be involved with such a valuable and worthwhile organization.

Kevan Ellis — Coordinator of Instruction and Professional Development

Kevan has his Bachelors in Fine and Performing Arts from Simon Fraser University. In addition to supporting and developing classroom curriculum and professional development, Kevan also teaches piano and ensemble. HE is also a composer and plays with the bands Cinderpop and SK Robot. Kevan’s passion for non-profits has led him to perform and raise funds for many charities including The Vancouver Women’s Shelter and Vancouver Rape Relief.

Lindsay Funk — Human Resources Coordinator

Lindsay joins the School of Music on a part time basis to assist in establishing innovative programs and practices to improve day-to-day and long-term value, quality, and efficiency of the School of Music’s Human Resources portfolio. She brings a breadth of knowledge, insight, and expertise to the forefront of a change agent, advocating for success by engaging staff through connecting, listening, analyzing, and advising. Lindsay has worked alongside the staff of the School of Music as their Human Resources Coordinator at Arts Umbrella, where she is also employed.

Ella Law — Accountant

Ella is an accountant who provides business management, bookkeeping and payroll services for small and medium businesses. She has experiences in both industry and public practice. Her major clients are in entertainment and non-profit sectors.

Emma Dalziel — Administrative Assistant

Emma’s passion lies in the arts and accessible, innovative arts education. She holds a BFA in Fibre Art and Art History from Concordia University in Montreal. Her administrative experience includes work with the not-for-profit Hillside Music Festival and grant-based research and archival management for the Canadian Women Artist’s History Initiative. Alongside her work with the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, she assists in visual arts instruction at Arts Umbrella to keep her toes wet in the practice of teaching. It is her dearest goal at SoM to help make the school welcoming and supportive space for students and families.

Jen Rose — Administrative Assistant

Jen joined our team in July 2011. She was drawn to the School through a dual love of music and a desire to extend a hand to her community. Jen holds an Honours Degree from Kings College in Halifax Nova Scotia, where she studied political science and philosophy, and began her involvement with Students for Literacy, implementing volunteer programming across Halifax for underserved youth. Jen is a dedicated musician and songwriter and recently placed 3rd in the Indie International Songwriting Contest. She was introduced to Bluegrass music while on the east coast, and a piece of her heart remains there. Jen is delighted to be a part of the Sarah McLachlan School of Music. She is mother of 1, and lives in Vancouver.
